About Project

MT. STARA PLANINA - NEW NETWORK

The overall project objectives are: 

  • “To improve the capacity of the region to deal with key issues by joined resources and exchange of information and experience”.
  • “To contribute to stronger territory integration providing a balanced and sustainable development across the border”.

Four key areas of the border region development (Administrative Districts of Bor, Zaječar and Vidin) are:

  1. infrastructure, 
  2. agriculture, 
  3. environment and 
  4. tourism

End-user Knowledge base  consists of 3 sub-databases: 

Planning and development documents (e.g Local and regional development related documents as Local Environmental Protection plans, Municipal spatial plans. Sectors studies, Action plans, Master plans etc.

  1. Profiles of experts registered in the Cross border Region, - Although there are regional ex- perts, lack of available information on their enga- gement and field of expertise within the region causes a greater use of outside expertise. This sub-database providesan inventory of available experts and their expertise in specific areas.
  2.   3. Research studies. Research papers and studies concerning the region are unavailable at the moment. In the last decade many studies have been undertaken in various sectors but they are available in the places of their issuing, Sofia and Belgrade, only. Significant studies from archives will be transferred to the Regional Database and made available for use in the region. Various research paperses, studies and academic level papers important for the region will be recorded.
